Steering of Roaming
Steering of Roaming enables operators to control how subscribers connect to visited networks when roaming, using policy-based rules rather than relying solely on handset-controlled network selection.
Policy rules are defined by the operator and can reflect commercial agreements, measured network performance, geographic conditions, or subscriber segment. These rules are applied in real time to influence network selection and align traffic with preferred partners.
When a subscriber connects to a non-preferred network, the system can intervene by triggering controlled re-registration attempts to guide the device towards the target network, within standard roaming signalling procedures.
The module supports both outbound and inbound roaming scenarios. Performance is continuously monitored, including preferred network attachment rates, steering success, and failure patterns, allowing operators to refine both commercial strategy and steering policy.
